We are seeking an experienced Professional Land Surveyor to lead and expand a growing survey practice within a multidisciplinary engineering and consulting firm. This leadership role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing technical expertise, client management, business development, and team leadership while helping drive the future of a modern surveying practice. The successful candidate will oversee survey operations, lead complex projects, strengthen client relationships, mentor staff, and support continued growth throughout the New York metropolitan area. This position is based in Mineola, NY.


Responsibilities

  • Lead survey efforts on complex public and private sector projects throughout the New York metropolitan area.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining schedules, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop survey staff and field crews.
  • Establish and maintain quality assurance and quality control procedures across survey operations.
  • Oversee the preparation of boundary, topographic, construction, and ALTA/NSPS land title surveys.
  • Review deed research, title documents, and boundary analyses prepared by the team.
  • Resolve complex boundary and survey-related issues using sound professional judgment.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, county, and state regulations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, including developers, architects, engineers, municipalities, and public agencies.
  • Support business development by preparing proposals, defining project scopes, and assisting with fee negotiations.
  • Build long-term client relationships and identify opportunities for additional work.
  • Expand the survey practice through client growth, staff recruitment, and the implementation of new technologies and industry best practices.


Qualifications

  • Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license in New York preferred. New Jersey licensure is a plus.
  • 15+ years of progressive land surveying experience.
  • Proven experience managing survey teams and leading complex projects.
  • Strong understanding of boundary law, survey standards, and construction layout.
  • Knowledge of municipal survey requirements, permitting processes, and applicable regulations.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Carlson, MicroStation, or similar survey software.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated success in developing client relationships and contributing to business growth.
  • Experience working alongside engineering teams on multidisciplinary projects is preferred.
