Senior Electrical Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical design and technical execution of building projects. This position will be responsible for electrical system design, code compliance, construction support, project coordination, and mentoring junior engineers and designers.


Responsibilities

  • Lead the electrical design and technical development of projects.
  • Design building electrical systems including power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and related systems.
  • Review designs for compliance with applicable state, local, and federal codes.
  • Apply working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 72, NFPA 101, and other applicable electrical and life safety codes.
  • Perform electrical calculations and make technical design decisions throughout the project.
  • Conduct site surveys and field investigations to document existing conditions and support design.
  • Prepare electrical specifications and construction documents.
  • Coordinate electrical designs with architectural, mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and other disciplines.
  • Participate in project coordination meetings with clients, owners, architects, and consultants.
  • Select electrical equipment and products based on project requirements and applications.
  • Review electrical drawings and designs prepared by other team members.
  • Work directly with clients and Project Managers to understand project requirements and resolve technical issues.
  • Monitor construction progress and respond to RFIs and other construction administration items.
  • Provide technical support to contractors during construction.
  • Perform field engineering and site visits during the construction phase.
  • Present electrical designs to owners, architects, and project stakeholders when required.
  • Assist with project scheduling and workload planning for electrical engineers and designers.
  • Help ensure projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with technical requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff.
  • Perform design and production work using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Stay current with industry codes, standards, and electrical engineering practices.


Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical engineering experience, preferably within building design or MEP consulting.
  • Strong experience designing building electrical systems.
  • Experience with power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and related building systems.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 72, and NFPA 101.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit for electrical design and construction documentation.
  • Experience coordinating designs with architects and other engineering disciplines.
  • Experience supporting projects through both design and construction.
  • Ability to review technical work and provide direction to engineers and designers.
  • Strong client communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to travel to project sites as required.
